OVERHEAD FITTINGS

Up to to now, most overhead fittings available to the HO modeler have been lost wax castings which are oversize and much closer to "O" scale. So, to improve matters in this important area of traction modeling, I have licensed the very popular "David Voice" UK etched overhead fittings . The shot below shows the correctly sized HO scale version of the fret, which contains a good quantity of the usual standard hangers plus a multitude of various fittings not previously available in the US, including multi-angle crossings, pull overs, insulators and joiners. For your information, the actual size of this fret is 2 3/4 in by 5 3/4 in so you can easily gauge the size of individual items. In addition there is also an O scale fret is which is similar, but with fewer fittings overall, due to their increased size.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

The fine scale Overhead Frogs and Crossings in these fittings are narrower than those specified in the regular NMRA Standards for O an HO scales.  Therefore trolley poles manufactured only to current NMRA standards will not operate correctly with these frogs, because the pole shoe is too wide to pass through the frog.

TROLLEY POLES and WORKING TROLLEY WHEELS

I have therefore obtained some fine scale, ACTUALLY WORKING, Solid Nickel Silver, TROLLEY POLE WHEELS in HO which are the correct width for these fittings.  These are available as inexpensive upgrade kits to replace the old wider shoe on the end of your existing trolley poles. They require soldering to mount.

The David Voice complete HO Trolley Pole Kit is a generic design, including the same Nickel Silver trolley pole wheel, which also works with the HO fittings above.  It does require good miniature soldering skills to build.

POWER TRUCKS

DAVID VOICE "Craftsman" UNDERFLOOR POWER TRUCK KITS

These underfloor power truck kits may be contructed to either regular HO gauge, or HOm (12 mm) gauge,
 and have an adjustable wheelbase to suit most streetcar models. 
They comprise parts to make up two trucks and include a simple 12v motor for mounting in between,
 or (with the close coupling option), above in the cabin.

They require a model railroad "craftsman" level of skill to assemble and install.  Some simple soldering is required.

They are available in a large range of wheel sizes from 24" up to 36" and also in regular or "maximum traction" wheel configurations.
